Yea, but.. this thread has nothing to do with mirrors! But it does have something to do with 'sea stories and whoppers'!

Sam's Bar and Grill - A fictitious bar located in the Central Island Hotel. The Hotel is not a cheap joint where one can find a cot for the night. Fact is the Hotel is 5 Star rating, opulent, etc, with all the bells and whistles one would expect from an expensive hotel.. Sam managed to twist arms and use underhanded strong arm tactics, not to mention blatant bribery and blackmail, to secure a non-compete license within the hotel; Thus the only bar on the Island! No wonder all sort regardless of class intermingle and meet at Sams! Rumor has it Sam is actually Black Beard the dreaded tanker pirate although it can't be confirmed. Obviously Sam's presence alone accounts for a lot of the rift raft sitting about ( or passed out in some cases).

One thing Sam's does have is the best Grog ever served and Sam is not telling his source of said Grog. There is only "xxx" on the label, no indication of who makes it and/or smuggles it! Sam's nick name of 'Slippery' I have no doubt has something to do with 'smuggling' and blockade running in his past (or maybe even now).

Although the place is filled with rift raft as well as the aristocrats, everyone is very well behaved for some reason. I just can't put my finger on why. There is hardly ever a bar brawl, however to see two sailors stand and eye off at each other with the utmost intent expressions of 'kill, hurt, mime' is not un-common, they usually refrain and sit back down.

Sam's is supposed to jog little memories for old IW players, and yet not make new comers feel they don't belong. From time to time 'story lines' are started in this forum. Anyone may participate; it's a role play of sorts and can be very funny and interesting at times.

I've been given the task of creating this forum set called "Central Island Hotel". The objective of this task was not only for a place for old IW players to assemble and swap sea tales, but also a place to run a story line. One of the primary objectives was to create a graphical impression of what the various parts of the Central Islands Hotel are all about. Slipper Sam's is where we started. Keep in mind I'm no graphical artist; however I think I have the necessary components captured.

What is your impression? What is your input? Do we have a good start?

If you have the talents to participate in the graphical, Please contact Tides of War, ToWF and lets get something going join the team!

It's a good idea, however Flotsam's "Invasion" post got another thread started in the 'roll-playing' and 'big fish' department. If we're to have a central place for storylines, lets either move (in my case, copy and paste), Flot, Argons and mine into this thread, or, rename the "Invasion" thread to something more approperate to what it is.

Makes it easier for us folk-tellers to do our thing... Im not against multi-threaded storylines, mind you, it just seems that in my storyline, I seem to have what this thread needs (mainly content relivent to the bar scene) to fit the area.

A multi-threaded storyline could work like this:

Like a "Battle for the Central Isles" story thread depecting the actions and missadventures of the crews aboard each ship or battle as they scurry about looking for where the action (island wimminz) and the enemy (anyone who drinks your beer without belching or sayin' thanks) is.

And the "Evening at Sams" story thread that has all the personalitys in it that feeds the other thread, (i.e. things overheard, comspiracy theorys, chance meetings, spys, wild storys, etc.)

Maybe even a "Sam's Arms Inn" suggesting that the 'warmer', 'hotter' and romantic side of the adventures. (but then again, that could also be in the "Evening at Sams" thread, meaning this one would'nt be necessary.

Just throwing ideas out there for yas... Im good for whatever you guys decide. If everything ends up here, just delete all the suggestions/ideas first so peeps won't have to wade thru them to get to the good stuff.

Hey Shad, you got some good comments there bud.

I was 'lurking' in the Tides Admin IM room a few months back and I heard this topic discussed by several ToW Admin types. Mind you only know bits and parts, but this is what I picked up. The 'Bar' is a place for everyone to go to, visitors and the like. The whole concept of the 'Central Islands" is of course from the Game of Iron Wolves, the lagoon and all. On this Island was a 'neutral post' that all sides honored as "neutral". Then the idea of expanding what this all looked like took over the conversation.

They decided to start coming up with some images and start with "Slippery Sam's Bar and Grill". That image was supposed to be a nice image to set the mood for visitors but for old IW players the image was supposed to have a ton of memorabilia implanted.

It appears that ?story lines? are very popular all around the board, and they decided to exploit that and make it even more interesting. There is a ?publications? department at Tides that is going to really ?work? the story lines. They have a ton of stories already done.

Apparently the idea is once the story line get started and if it has the proper character etc .. they would link that story line into the publications department. From that point there are ?writers? that would respond to players posts and keep the story line moving along. Not all responses would be printed, some would be edited out due to ?stupid?s? that people have from time to time.

The publications department would further enhance the post with images and settings as well as ?carton? like depictions of certain story line situations.

I hope you read this before the ?security dept? thugs do .. cuz as soon as they read this they will probably ?delete? this post. They say: ? loose lips sinks ships? and the war sensors go thru everything!
